At the time of writing we gather than the company's customer base is still under 5,000, which makes it one of the smaller players in the market as compared to other companies which were established around the same time. The company aims to be at the leading edge of the web hosting industry through superior technology, competitive pricing, and excellent customer service. Its philosophy is to lead the industry by maintaining steady customer and revenue growth and providing excellent customer service. EasyCGI maintains its own datacenter located at the corporate headquarters itself. An advantage of this is that staff members have immediate physical access to the facility. Extensive system monitoring enables EasyCGI's staff to quickly assess and resolve problems that may occur. The datacenter is around 15,000 sq feet in size, and powered by a 500 KW generator and 125KVA UPS system. Hardware consists of Dell PowerEdge servers with 3.0GHz Xeon processor and 1GB RAM. Price and Features At the time of writing, the company has just upgraded its offering on the Basic Hosting package. Hard Disk space and bandwidth is now a huge 6GB and 150GB respectively. The previous upgrade was on 15 July 2004, when the company increased to 3,000MB of disk space and 50GB bandwidth (up from the previously 100MB disk space and 5GB bandwidth). As the company uses Windows 2000 servers, it is able to pack in ASP and MS Access support in addition to the standard PHP/MySQL combination. Despite this though, it is surprising that MS FrontPage extension is not supported. ColdFusion support is svailable only at a higher plan. Easy CGI uses its own proprietary Control Panel which allows you to administer your website, e-mail Accounts, databases, domain contacts and more. EasyCGI also offers a 30-day money back guarantee. Customer Service/Technical Support Customer service is reasonable. Support is provided 24x7 via e-mail, web form, and telephone. Toll-free telephone support (1-866-327-9244) is available only from Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm EST. EasyCGI also offers a web hosting guide and a domain transfer guide to help with common hosting tasks. The Help section in their Control Panel provides comprehensive tutorials on each Control Panel feature as well as setup guides to configure programs to check e-mails (eg MS Outlook Express) and upload files to your website (eg CuteFTP). Overall customer support is considered average, but e-mail support requests are usually responded promptly (within an hour). Conclusion A little pricey if you are going for the monthly plan. If you do not need Windows-related features such as Access, ASP etc, then you may want to opt for a cheaper plan offered by some of the other companies reviewed.
